Objects & Multiples

In our gallery work, we’ve explored ideas of function and utility, as well as systems of production. Our Objects and Multiples series has become a space for us to approach these explorations more directly - what you’ll find here are a range of objects produced in open and numbered edition, all available for direct purchase. While these grow from our gallery work, it is not a uni-directional process - the process of developing and producing these works influence as much the gallery works that follow.

“… Boyle and Franchino’s installation is so intently and specifically considered, it acutely underscores the conscious intent of the artists while blurring lines between, design, function, and utility. While doing so, it also achieves a quixotic mystery in the environment it concocts—one constructed from a reiteration of the ordinary in a peculiar and unexpected fashion. From ordinary imagery and direct gestures of material and form, an enigmatic atmosphere is borne. As such, the entirety of the installation serves as metaphor for the strange and elusive machinations of art and its making…”

untitled iii, the latest collaborative project for Jeremy Boyle and Mark Franchino, updates ideas and forms from minimalism. At first glance, their installation could fall under Frank Stella's infamous "What you see is what you see." But is it? Their work is finely crafted and arranged into a simple system. Yet they have truly tricked the eye, creating trompe l'oeil objects that shouldn't work but do as they force scrutiny of often overlooked, taken-for granted, everyday objects.
